Founded in 2005, The Alley is a family owned authentic blues bar in the Historic District of Downtown Sanford specializing in live blues, good times, and cold drinks. The Alley continues to keep Sanford's rich blues history alive. The city's Goldsboro district, once an independent African-American city before being annexed by Sanford, included many popular clubs that hosted performers traveling on the chitlin circuit. Sanford was also the home to King Snake Records, an important blues record label founded by Bob Greenlee in the early 1980s. The Alley sits inside a 1930s-era building on Park Avenue in Sanford’s historic district and features live music multiple nights a week.
