Sarah McCulloch is a singer-songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist who, since starting as recent as 2020, has been taking the Florida country and folk scene by storm.
Born in Miami and raised in northeastern Collier County, McCulloch grew up in a hand-built house crafted from cypress wood from her Father’s sawmill. Living in and around the Big Cypress Seminole Reservation, she was inspired by her lived experiences of Seminole and local Floridians.
Her debut album Strawberry Moon released in 2020, and introduced audiences to tracks such as “Gypsy Rose” and “Straight from the Bottle.” She followed this with her 2022 album Sawmiller’s Daughter. The title track, “Dreams of Yesterday,” and “Sugartown” have garnered much attention from country music publications that track up and coming artists.
Her latest album, Driving Me Home, is a collection of songs written about strong female archetypes. Sarah’s vocal delivery and raw sound help ground these characters alongside the instrumental accompaniment of acclaimed Florida musicians such as Raiford Starke, Jeanie Fitchen, William Ellis, and Wayne Martin.
While she is not writing and recording, Sarah performs all around the state at various festivals and venues such as the South Florida Folk and Acoustic Music Festival, Will McClean Music Festival, and the Florida Folk Festival. Grounded in family and tradition, her music is supported by lyrics that speak to her deep and meaningful lived experiences. Paired with smooth and catchy melodies, Sarah’s music is pure unadulterated Florida country.
