Jousha Ryan Owen is a singer who broke onto the country market in the late 2000s and served as a model for the 2010s “bro-country” scene which he also participated in.
Born in Winter Haven, Jake grew up playing golf with his father and brother and planned on pursuing a pro career. After a wakeboarding injury, he was unable to continue playing golf on a professional level. During his recovery time, he picked up the guitar and began to learn how to play and write songs. Studying at FSU, he played local bars and began premiering his original material. He soon traveled to Nashville in search of fame and a contract.
Not long after arriving in Tennessee, he caught the attention of recording executives and landed a contract with RCA Nashville in 2005. He then changed his first name to Jake to avoid confusion with other popular country stars such as Josh Turner and Josh Gracin. With his new name and contract, he released a couple albums with good ratings on the country charts.
His big break came with the 2011 album Barefoot Blue Jean Night, with five tracks reaching the number one spot on several charts. Riding this massive success, he continued to release three albums in the 2010s and charted at the top with hits such as “Anywhere with You,” “The One That Got Away,” “Beachin,” “I Was Jack (You Were Diane),” “Homemade,” and “Made for You.” He continues to release new music with Loose Cannon in 2023 and the live album Palm Trees & Palm Readers in 2024.
Jake pushes into the current country market with his fun and loose music that is set to make audiences dance and have a good time.
