Chad Brock is a singer and disc jockey who was widely popular in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Born in Ocala, Brock played football in high school and was offered a scholarship to play in college. He turned it down after his experiences in the high school choir convinced him to pursue a career in music. He moved to Nashville, and played in venues around town until he landed a contract with Warner Brothers in 1994.
While writing music under his contract, Warner Brothers decided that Brock would also find success in entertainment as a professional wrestler. To cross promote him, they placed him in World Championship Wrestling (WCW), where he wrestled from 1994-1996. When an injury forced him to retire, he moved back towards music. His debut single “Evangeline” was released in 1998 with success. The next single “Ordinary Life” was his first success, peaking at number three on Billboard Hot Country Songs and 38 on Billboard Hot 100 in 1998.
He released his self-titled album in 1999 following the success of his singles, with the track “Lighting Does The Work” charting well. The next year, his second album Yes! released and the title track hit number one on Billboard Hot Country Songs. The album’s last single “The Visit” reached number twenty-one on the same chart. His final album III was released in 2001.
Brock left Warner Brothers after his contract ended and moved to Tampa to become a radio disc jockey and worked at WQYK-FM for five years before leaving the scene. He released “Put A Redneck In The White House” in 2008 but has not released music since. His music is defined by its driving rhythms which ground Brock’s baritone vocals. His songs tackle familiar country topics such as love and ordinary life in the South.
